The final quarter is a great time for promotions. As the year winds down and the holiday season gears up we naturally reflect on the past year and begin plotting our strategy to make next year even better! It’s during this time of reflection that you’ll want to remind your customers and prospects to incorporate you into their plans in the new year. What better way to do that than to give them some great new swag? More importantly, how can you snag their attention with a promo that’s more than just a promo; how can you make your next promo item a promo gift?
Give them something they’ll use!
The holidays are a time to be prepared (but you never are)!
This time of year I try to remind myself, “It’s probably in your jacket pocket.” When the temp drops and the jackets go on, suddenly we have a world of new pockets to lose our wallets and keys and cell phones. And somehow, I completely forget that my jacket exists when it’s not on my body. Maybe it’s just me (Oh come on, you know you do it too!) but it’s usually mid-December before I can remember to check the coatrack for my missing whatevers. It’s just one of those things we have to re-learn each year. This year your clients, lucky ducks that they are, have you looking out for them, making sure the winter doesn’t take them by complete surprise!
While your competitors will be telling people how much they appreciate them, you’ll be showing them that you care!
1. Lip Balm
It’s handy stuff, but I never think to buy it until my lips are already chapped. And when I do buy it, it runs me anywhere from $1.50 to one million dollars per tube (I’m not entirely sure what the ceiling is on lip balm pricing, so I just rounded up). That’s what we call high-perceived value. You can get these for around .75¢/ea. and they’re every bit as high-quality as the popular name brands. The full-color imprint lets you really show off your brand!
When it comes to hygiene around the holidays, it’s like I tell my daughter’s friends: “Don’t touch me you little germ amusement parks!”
Of course kids are superb illness incubators but they’re not alone. We’re a society on the move and not all of us remember to do the little things to prevent the spread of illness during cold and flu season. Help your customers stay healthy and happy this holiday season with this nifty antibacterial spray. With 62% alcohol content, this product is remarkably effective at preventing cold, flu, and worse.
3. Ice scraper
I’ll be honest with you. If it weren’t for my work in the promo industry, I’d have no idea what this thingie is. I’ve spent my whole life living in the southern part of the US. I own one of these… I think. Unfortunately an ice scraper is such a foreign concept to me that last year, when Texas saw a nigh-unprecedented snowfall, I was clueless as to where I might have put it. I thought to myself, “Well, I get the gist of it, I’ll make do with what I have!” I tried to use a dust pan. A dust pan, y’all. I’d like to think my Southern readers are still thinking, “Ok, and did it work?” while my Northern readers are still laughing.
The point is this: If you’re used to these little guys, then you know how badly you need them. If you’re unfamiliar with them, the day will come when you need them even more!
The holidays are a time for shopping!
4. Tote Bags
Cities in nearly 20 states now have plastic bag bans, a list that many predict will continue to grow. Beyond that, a growing number of consumers (particularly between Gen X and Millenial age) are electing to use reusable bags of their own volition. Some do it because of environmental conscience others do it to be trendy. Regardless of why they’re doing it, it’s all the rage. We’re in a nice place with reusable bags as a promotional tool, too. It’s still new enough that it catches people’s attention, but not so new that it seems pretentious or strange.
This winter, whether they’re grabbing Thanksgiving dinner or getting their Santa on, help your customers look trendy and eco-conscious as they help spread your brand–along with some holiday cheer!
The holidays are a time to party!
5. Mood Cups
This winter are you having an office party? Holding an event for your clients? No? Holiday celebration not your thing? Well… Then, wouldn’t you like something new to flaunt in front of Bob Cratchit as he toils in the coal-lit room for you?
I don’t care what time of year it is, these cups are one of my all time favorite promotions. They come in a few different base colors and transform with the temperature of your drink. They’re so cool! Why don’t you have them already? These cups would be perfect for a holiday party. That’s right folks, bold-italic-level perfect. You’re planning to have a small gift for your attendees anyway, right? (Yes, Ebenezer, you are.) And you’re planning to have cups, right?
See? Told ya. Perfect.
