They say, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, and with this talented lady, it’s not hard to see where our fearless manager gets her creativity!
Sue DeWeese is the mother to our very own Production Manager, Debbie Shea. Sue has been called the Steampunk Grandma by Fort Worth Weekly and you can see from just a few of her Steampunk creations, she is one talented Granny!
To those who aren’t familiar with the Steampunk genre, it is inspired by the 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. A good clue that you’re looking at something in this genre is it is very mechanical and usually contains gears, brass, and other intricate moving parts.
This past year we were fortunate enough to commission a 3’ x 4’ work of art which now graces the wall on our front office. I’m not kidding when I say you can look at it for hours and still not grasp the complexity of it all. We even have people walk in daily that stare in amazement before finally realizing it’s a working clock. My favorite is when we are asked where we got it and we tell them a grandma from Fort Worth, TX created it. Those looks are always priceless!
If you haven’t stopped by lately, you really need to come see it yourself. You can also read more about how she got started in the Fort Worth Weekly featured article here: http://www.fwweekly.com/2015/05/13/beer-and-steampunk/
